PRESCHOOL LIFE AT DENVER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
Denver Christian’s model of inspired, equipped and engaged begins already at the preschool level:
PLAYING TO LEARN
Denver Christian preschool is a play-based preschool. That means that our students learn to play and play to learn. We provide learning centered activities throughout the day that focus on developing the whole child. Teachers work with students daily on social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, restorative practices, and creative thinking. Every day includes active play through music time, Bible time, fine motor skills work and much more.
Our highly qualified, caring, Denver Christian preschool teachers are available daily for communication with parents. Through this interaction, we come to know more about your children and you. We are able to offer small class sizes with large classrooms, providing plenty of space for children to be active.
FAITH FORMATION AND DISCIPLING RELATIONSHIPS
All of Denver Christian, including our preschool, uses Christian Schools International curriculum for Bible teachings. Prayer and discussion about God’s beautiful creation are woven in throughout the entire learning experience. Making the Wordless Book, preschool children learn to share the Gospel. Our multi-cultural unit, God So Loves the World, introduces children to cultures all around the world.
PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM
Preschool curriculum is designed to inspire your child’s interest in learning and exploring God’s world.Science, Math, and Literacy are incorporated each day in our classrooms. Children are equipped with understanding and language to help them succeed socially. Zoo Phonics is used to teach letters and sounds through fun actions and animals. We practice many pre-reading, skill-building activities throughout the day. We use Scholastic’s Let’s Find Out and My Big World to learn about the world around us. Preschoolers benefit from and use technology to learn through interactive promethean boards and listening labs. Students also attend Physical Education (PE), Music, and Library weekly.
BUILDING COMMUNITY
Preschoolers experience being part of a community by engaging with other students in preschool-12th grade through participation in Faith Families, Reading Buddies, and with upper school mentors. In addition, preschool participates in Elementary music performances along with K-5th grades, as well as PE Field Day at the end of the school year. These interactions allow our preschoolers to know that they belong and are valuable members of the Denver Christian family.
